My attempt at being crafty...

So I've been looking for something easy and cute to do for a coffee table decoration for a while now, and I finally found it!  See, here's the thing, I'm not a "crafter" by nature, I'm more of a "starter but not finisher" when it comes to crafting, so it has to be pretty simple for me to finish it.

I was checking out an AMAZING blog called Clean and Scentsible, who is a fabulous crafter.  After reading several of her posts, I've decided that I have about as much talent all together as she has in her right pinkie finger.  But anywho, I found this project that I thought would be do-able for me.  They are paper flower balls.  Here's how you make em':

I went to my local hobby lobby and picked out the following "ingredients":
  •   Scrapbooking Paper $3
  • Styrofoam Balls $15!! (didn't know Styrofoam balls were so pricey!)
  • Flower puncher $7
  •  Dress making pins (CS suggested corsage pins, but I went the thrifty route) $6
  • <3 Vase (was bought at Ikea) $12

Step 1: Punched out a zillion little flowers out of the scrapbook paper

Here are the CUTE pins that I found! ADORABLE bright spring colors!

Step 2: Pinned little flowers unto Styrofoam balls.  I alternated the cheap pins, with the decorate pins to save some $$, but if I was married to a doctor or lawyer I would have went the completely decorated pin route. (Mr. Kitty was very upset that I was using HIS table to craft on, and you can also see my new rug from Ikea)

Step 3: Voila! Beautiful balls to put in my vase (that sounded a bit dirty).

I haven't gotten them all done.  It takes me about 40 minutes to make each ball (but then again it's ME, and I'm watching my DVR'ed shows while I'm doing it), and I bought about 15 balls to fill my giant vase.  Will update with a finished look pic when they are all done.

Oh and a TIP if you decide to make these....BUY A THIMBLE.  My little thumb is sore from pushing in pins!

TueFriesday Pick

So I forgot to put my Tuesday pick of the week up on Tuesday (OOPS!) But I found a real gem.  "He is real man, who knows how to treat his little girls." (taken directly from profile, and no he doesn't have any children, I think that's what he is calling the women he dates).  He took misspellings a step further, and misspelled his screen name "NODREMA4ME".  But maybe I'm being too harsh, maybe he just doesn't like Dramamine??  Anyway, he emailed me and asked if I was ready for a "good time".  hmmmmm....NO.

P.S. I also find it amusing that his tattoo says "but not broken" right above his "butt crack".

Thursday

So currently can't get the following out of my mind:

  • The song FRIDAY by some whiny voiced tween...except I am replacing the word 'Friday' with 'Thursday'.
  • said whiny annoying tween.
  • Taking a trip to Montreal (If you watch Bethany getting married you know why).  It's so magical looking there!
  • I can't wait to get off of work and go to Hobby Lobby, I have the BEST crafting idea ever! (Will be blogging about it sometime next week).  HINT: It involves styrofoam balls.
  • I'm also wondering what Robin is doing right now...I hope she isn't getting torn apart, and having all of her doo-dads, and thingy-ma-bobbers removed.  Robin is my old car by the way, I just traded her in for a newer car with more up to date doo-dads and thingy-ma-bobbers.  I kinda miss her.  She was my very first car, and has a lot of memories along with miles.

my inspiration....

There is this AMAZING place that I absolutely adore in Asheville,NC about an hour away from the 'burg, called Screen Door Asheville (You can click on the link to see their site!).  It's this crazy, funky, mish-mosh of wonderfulness.  They have everything you never knew you wanted, at fairly inexpensive rates.

Here's a little better description of what they do from their webpage....

Established in 1999, ScreenDoor offers 25,000 square feet of unique home and garden accessories from more than 100 vendors.  There is always an exciting selection of architectural, antique, mid-century modern, industrial and country furnishings to reflect your personal style. The ScreenDoor also includes a wonderful bookstore featuring new books on home and garden design, cooking and children's titles at 50% off publisher prices.

Doesn't it sound dreamy??  Here's a couple of pictures that I took on my last visit when my friend Karla came up and visited me!

This is what I want to magically happen to my little apartment!! Such an inspiring place! It just get's your imagination going! Check out their website for more pictures!

P.S. If you ever want to come and visit me, I promise I will take you here!! Also there is an awesome little fudge shoppe just minutes away!! All this with an amazing mountain view!

Plan a visit and jumpstart your creativity!

Re-Do!

So I have the "MUST change EVERYTHING" itch.  I'm going to IKEA tomorrow to search for some funky things and hopefully redecorating my kitchen and living room.  I'm sorta happy with my current set up in the bathroom and bedroom, but really would like to add some more colors/patterns to my living room.  Right now here is my "befores" of my little apartment in the woods...

Here's the living area...like I said maybe needs some patterns/greens/pinks/browns?? Maybe some new artwork. (P.S. Do you see cute Mr. Weiner in the top pic?? :)

Kitchen (TOTALLY TIRED of this) I was into the coca-cola theme a couple of years ago but not-no-mo! I have to stick with the red, since I have a microwave/toaster/toaster oven in red.  But will be adding a little eclectic touches.

Maybe new patio furniture?? And cue Mr. Kitty...

So what do you think it needs???

To Self:

you are exactly where you need to be.
and who you need to be.
for this exact moment in time.
the hardships that you are facing are purposeful.
God is weaving a tapestry that you only see the back of,
you don't see the beautiful design that is being woven on the front.

Love, me.

This was written in 1887 by John Stammis, and it is playing in my heart today...

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet.
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Also EDIT ** Is it just me, or do his pants seem to be on FIRE??

Not my type...

Online dating has hit a brick wall with me.  I just cannot seem to find my "type" of guy.  But I have found the following "types":

  • Mr. I have 3 kids, and even though my profile says I'm 25, I'm really 46.
  • Mr. I think I'm all that, now give me your top ten reasons why you are good enough to date me.
  • Mr. I put things like my favorite video games, sci-fi movies in my profile, and my profile picture is the one I took in full dress at comic con last year.
  • Mr. I don't date fat chicks. (I kid you not, these people put that on their profiles!)
  • Mr. I am obviously illiterate, as I haven't spelled a single word correctly in my whole profile.
  • Mr. I'm just looking for sex, and will send you email's that say, "Hey Hottie, what are you down for".

So for right now, I'm done with online dating.  It's just not for me.  I think I'll still leave my profile up though, you never know....Mr. Right might just be right around the corner. :)

Thank you

Just would like to put it out there....Thank you GOD!!!

For doing for me, what I could not do for myself.

Taking people out of my life, that were there just to serve as a life lesson, and then be moved on from.

I know you have someone wonderful, and perfectly imperfect planned for me.  Someone honest, faithful, and someone deserving of my over abundance of love that I'm just waiting to give to someone.

After finding out some truly disgusting things about J (that I won't divulge to this public forum) I have deleted him from my facebook, deleted his numbers from my phone, deleted every anything that he has ever sent to me.  GOODBYE, GOOD RIDDEN!!

I really truly think that I dodged a HUGE bullet. Once again God is looking out for this girl!
